Raw text preview in document format selector dialog does not work for Unicode text

      Description

      1) Open utf16be.fa (_common_data/fasta) file: this file is written in non-OS-default unicode encoding.
      2) Document format selection dialog will appear:
      3) The text preview will show unprintable characters instead of the real text.

      Reason:
      Raw binary data read from file is not correctly converted into text.
