We have two problems:
- Python could not be installed on macOS
- Even if it is installed, our external scripts use Python 2.7, but this version has been deprecated for several years. No one would install it just for UGENE, the current version in use is 3.8-3.10
Possible solutions:
- Easy - find python 2.7 and provide macOS External tools with it
- Difficult - upgrade all external tools python scripts for python 3 and, optionally, add python 3
